ANS Group, has been appointed to implement an external email encryption system by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP).
The work will improve the security of communications and will enable records to be more immediately updated and communicated, wherever they are held.
CWP has a secure internal email capability but is currently unable to ensure the same protection for electronic information sent externally. Due to the growing requirement to unify communications and liaise and pass information between health services as well as Government bodies, the Trust turned to ANS Group for a solution.
David Walliker, Head of Informatics, at CWP commented:
“ANS Group already had an excellent understanding of our infrastructure, having designed the original data network when the Informatics Department at the Trust was formed in 2004. ANS Group is very efficient and is able to deliver a quick turnaround which suited our requirements.”
Paul Sweeney, managing director of ANS Group commented:
“With thirty per cent of our business coming from the NHS, ANS Group is keenly aware of the growing pressure to improve efficiencies as well as ensure confidential information is well protected. Having previously worked with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust we are delighted to be aiding this important development for the Trust.”
Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is currently piloting the new encryption solution and reviewing internal protocols. It then hopes to roll the system out to a number of GPs in the next few months to enable patients’ discharge letters be emailed to all necessary departments and ensure records remain up to date.
