ANS Implement email encryption system for South West Strategic Health Authority

ANS Group, has been appointed to implement a user-friendly email encryption system by the South West Strategic Health Authority.

The Cisco IronPort solution, which will be in operation across the county in six NHS Trusts, will allow encrypted emails to be sent between Trusts without any change to user experience.  If an external user needs to read an email from any of the Trusts, they simply have to access a website to decrypt it.

The system helps PCTs comply with the Connecting for Health policy, which sets out standards for the encryption of email and data loss prevention.  The implementation of the policy has been delegated to Strategic Health Authorities across the country, and Dorset is one of the first PCTs to adopt the solution.

The six Trusts covered by the system Dorset PCT, Bournemouth and Poole PCT, Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Poole Hospital NHS Trust, Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch NHS Foundation Trust and Dorset Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.  These are linked up to the Somerset network, which has also implemented the solution.
