ANS Group has been selected as a strategic partner by Barclays Premier League club Bolton Wanderers (BWFC). The Manchester based leading infrastructure specialists will provide the Club with an agile and virtual IT environment.
Stage one of the multi-year deal will target the Club's vital risk management capabilities. With Deloitte's Annual Review of Football Finance detailing the Club's turnover as increasing by 16% to £59.1m, making it fifth in the North West revenue league, any problems with its IT infrastructure or technology could have a devastating impact.
ANS Group will ensure that BWFC's systems are durable enough to withstand such intense use and that, should any problems occur, a disaster recovery plan is in place to minimise the effect to the Club and its supporters.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director at ANS Group commented:
"Risk management is essential for businesses that have such a narrow window in which to process sales. It is imperative that for the 90-minute match all systems are working efficiently with no downtime. Any IT problems will have an immediate impact on the Club's revenue as well as its expectation for faultless customer service. ANS Group will install a virtual system that will eliminate this risk and ensure that the organisation has a platform from which to grow over the next few years."
ANS Group will also install a virtualisation system at the Club, enabling BWFC to significantly reduce the number of servers it uses to run its operations, saving on power, maintenance and new hardware costs as well as reducing carbon emissions.
Dave Atkinson, BWFC IT Director commented:
"The financial and environmental benefits of virtualisation is of course very important, especially during the current economic downturn when every business should be considering how its IT infrastructure can help them reduce costs. However, of equal importance to Bolton Wanderers is the increased risk management service offered by virtualisation which is vital for both the Club and our supporters.
"Should a problem occur, we want all systems to be back up and running within seconds so that our customers can enjoy a seamless hospitality experience and the impact on our business is kept to a minimum. We are very proud of our systems and our people and through these developments we want to ensure that our service remains at this high level and indeed continues to improve."
