Combined, the DiVitas team possesses the talent and experience to drive the emerging MMC market.

Product Overview:

Organisations today require a mobile voice-and-data solution that runs ubiquitously across the enterprise. Falling out of communication is costly to organisations because it means slow response to business opportunities.

An innovator in the converged mobile market, DiVitas Networks has developed an advanced, open, enterprise solution that, for the first time, lets mobile devices automatically roam seamlessly – back and forth – across disparate cellular and WiFi networks. The DiVitas mobile-to-mobile convergence (MMC) ™ solution eliminates the need for end users to manually switch modes, and drop calls, when changing network environments.

The DiVitas MMC solution creates a network-agnostic, VoIP-based system for unwiring the enterprise workforce. Voice, data, and applications are unified on a single handset, provided by the industry’s leading mobile-device makers, to extend the reach of the enterprise to a more mobilized workforce. Enterprise data is automatically and seamlessly made available via the most appropriate network – cell or WiFi – without missing a beat or wasting unnecessary carrier minutes. Moreover, by taking management and control out of carrier hands, enterprises assume policy and security control over mobile communications.

MMC is the transparent unification of cellular and WiFi networks. The DiVitas MMC solution is comprised of the Mobile Convergence Appliance (MCA)™, which resides on the enterprise network, and the Mobile Convergence Client (MMC)™ for dual-mode handsets.

The DiVitas MCA solution supports WiFi as well as GSM, CDMA, and 3G cellular data connections. Furthermore, the system is designed to integrate with a customer’s enterprise applications, from field-force automation to financial software. In doing so, DiVitas provides network continuity; reduces communications costs; and increases enterprise-level administrative control and management of communications.

How has the convergence of cellular and WiFi networks become a key business requirement? We live in a mobile world, but knowing the cell number of a co-worker, client, IT personnel, etc. isn't enough to stay in touch. We need to know whether that client is actually in front of their PC or available to take the call.

Furthermore, cell-based communication has shortcomings. Carriers have started to offer more cost-effective plans, yet the cost for international calls and roaming (especially internationally) is still expensive. In-building cellular coverage has also improved, but it still has room for improvement. Because of cost and coverage concerns, some telephony managers are still uneasy about depending exclusively on carriers for all of their mobile-communication needs.

To resolve some of these problems, many businesses have deployed Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) as a means of supporting a more mobile work force. VoIP calls can be made from anywhere there is a network connection and; VoIP networks also free phones from having an area code and country code that is tied to a particular physical line. WiFi lets businesses setup anywhere in the world, and use local numbers that are convenient for them.
